About Harlan Vaughn
Hello and welcome to Out and Out! My name is Harlan – I’m a points and miles enthusiast interested in personal finance, the power of positive thinking, and earning as many points and miles as I possibly can! I currently live in Dallas, Texas.
This blog is a commentary for those attuned to the points and miles world – though I certainly think newcomers can find a lot of useful information here.
And another thing: I love to connect with readers! Feel free to ask questions here on the blog or through my email at zynner (at) gmail (dot) com. You can also use the form on the Contact Me page.
About the blog
The blog is divided up into a few different sections. Here’s how to navigate the different categories.
TRAVEL is a catch-all category. TRIP REPORTS is a sub-category of TRAVEL. There is also a separate category for HOTELS.
FINANCE is where I ramble about things like personal finance, net worth, and the journey to become financially independent.
POSITIVITY is where I post warm thoughts. It makes me feel good to post positive thoughts – and hopefully you, too.
QUEER AND THERE is another catch-all. It’s observations about travel, the world, New York, or any other ol’ thing that holds some sort of interest. It’s usually related to travel in a roundabout way.
JUST THE TIP(S) is my version of “Hot Deals” and “Pro Tips” combined. If something pops up and is time-sensitive, or if it’s just something about how to maximize time, money, or effort, I’ll post in this category.
SERVICES I LIKE are not necessarily related to travel, but may be a cool product, a startup with a great idea, or a helpful service. Most of them are referral links, and I appreciate you clicking them.
I am not licensed to dispense advice from any of the companies I talk about, nor am I a representative of any company I talk about. All opinions are my own, and have not been reviewed or approved by any bank, financial company, airline, or travel service provider. I will provide details as best I can, but assume no liability for anything that may be posted here. As with everything, use your best judgment about whether a deal or sign-up bonus is best for you.
Please note that OUT AND OUT has financial relationships with some of the merchants mentioned here. OUT AND OUT may be compensated if consumers choose to utilize the links located throughout the content on this site and generate sales for the said merchant.

Thanks for the article on TRIPBAM. As a small company, we really appreciate the mention. You should see what we do for businesses. Companies pay us to monitor their hotel bookings and let them know if we find something better. Huge savings.
