There are lots of targeted Amazon promotions out there now. Which is awesome, because Black Friday are Cyber Monday are next week! When you combine these deals with inevitable sale prices, you stand to save buku bucks this holiday season. Or you can do like I did, and stock up on dog food. 😹
With all of them, you’ll save either a percentage or dollar amount off your purchase – and you only have to use a single bank point to trigger the deal. This year, you can use 1 point from the following programs:
- Amex Membership Rewards points
- Chase Ultimate Rewards points
- Citi ThankYou points
- Discover It or It Miles points/miles
So if you have any travel rewards credit cards, dust ’em off and check if any of these deals are targeted for your Amazon account.
I’ll share the current promotions, tricks to get them to appear, and my usual bits and baubles. 🧿
Targeted Amazon promotions with 1 bank point – Holiday 2019
Here are the current deals to save on Amazon shopping this holiday season.
Amex Membership Rewards points
- 20% off, up to $50 in total with one or more purchases, when you use 1 point – Activate it here
- Save $20 off $100+ in a single purchase when you use 1 point – Activate it here
- Save $30 off $60+ in a single purchase when you use 1 point – Activate it here
Note: You can actually activate both of the first two holiday offers. Scroll down the page to see if you got both. They expire on December 31, 2019, or when they’ve met max activations. The best one ($30 off $60) expires December 31, 2019.
There’s also a promotion to get 25% off select Amazon devices when you use 1 Amex point, which expires on December 31, 2019, and stacks with the above offers. Amazon are really pushing their Fire, Echo, and Kindle products this holiday season.
I was targeted for the $20 off $100 offer, the $30 off $60 offer, AND 25% off Fire, Echo, and Kindle devices. Three offers at once – that rarely happens! And I’ve used the same Amazon account since, um, 1998. #datedmyself
Chase Ultimate Rewards points
- Save $15 off $60+ in a single purchase when you use 1 point – Activate it here
Note: This offer expired on October 31, 2019, but I was targeted and able to place an order on November 23, 2019. So get it while you can! I got dog food and dental floss! 🐶🦷
Citi ThankYou points
- Save $15 off $50+ in a single purchase when you use 1 point – Activate it here
Note: This one expires December 31, 2019, or when they’ve met their max usage.
No joy here – I wasn’t targeted. But I did get an offer to save $15 off $75+ before the end of the year when I pay with my Citi Prestige card. Would’ve been nice to stack them, but I’ll likely still use the offer anyway.
Discover points/miles
- 20% off, up to $50 in total with one or more purchases, when you use 1 point – Activate it here
- Save $20 off $50+ in a single purchase when you use 1 point – Activate it here
- Save $10 off $30+ in a single purchase when you use 1 point – Activate it here
Note: You can actually activate both of the first two holiday offers. Scroll down the page to see if you got both. They expire on December 31, 2019, or when they’ve met their max activations. The third one expires on December 31, 2019.
There’s also a promotion to get 25% off select Amazon devices when you use 1 Amex point, which expires on December 31, 2019, and stacks with the above offers.
Things to remember about these offers
- All orders but be shipped and sold from Amazon.com – they will NOT work on third-party orders
- Many gift cards work for these deals, including popular ones like Airbnb, Gap, Hotels.com, Southwest, Spotify, and many many others
- If you have Amazon gift cards, they DO stack with these offers. So you can buy an Amazon gift card with a card that earns points at a grocery store or office store, then use it in conjunction with these deals. MOAR PERNTZ!
- If you’re not already an Amazon Prime member, you can sign-up for a free trial to get free 1-day shipping
- You must pay with the card the points are connected to (or put the balance on it)
- Do NOT use more than 1 point. The rate you get is atrocious. Just use 1 point to trigger the offer, and no more
How to make targeted Amazon promotions appear in your account
First things first, link your points account to your Amazon account. Link them here:
If they’re already linked and you got nothing, you can also try deleting the cards from your Amazon account, then enrolling them again.
Finally, if you don’t see targeted offers immediately after adding or deleting/relinking your cards, simply give it a couple of days for the offers to appear again.
Oh AND – add them ASAP because some of them have a limited number of enrollments. So even if you plan to save it for later, it’s smart to go ahead and add it if you think you’ll use it in a week or two.
Bottom line
There’s nothing to lose and a lot to like about these targeted Amazon promotions. I personally love ’em. Plus – hint, hint – many Black Friday deals are already live on Amazon.
So settle in this weekend and start using those offers if you were targeted. Remember, some of them expire once they reach max uses, so if you’re keen, I’d try to enroll and use them right away. Even better if you can get in before the Black Friday/Cyber Monday onslaught.
These are all the ones I know of this holiday season. If there’s one I missed, I can add it – just leave a comment and I’ll research. I was surprised to get several deals in my Amazon account from Amex and even an old one from Chase that I’m pretty sure I already used, but hey, I’ll take it!
Remember, you can stack these deals with Amazon gift cards, must buy items shipped and sold by Amazon, and can try deleting/re-adding your cards if they don’t appear right away.
Good luck and hope y’all get in on these deals! Happy holidays to everyone – may all beings be happy!
